Port Royal-Barony

Imagine 54 holes of legendary golf nestled within one of Hilton Head Island's most pristine plantations along the Atlantic coastline. This golf haven was designed by some of the best golf architects, such as George Cobb, Pete Dye and William Byrd, and it has been honored with the presence of some of golf's legendary players, having hosted the Champions TOUR Hilton Head Seniors International.

The new Champion Bermuda greens are small and protected by bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding a deft touch with medium and short irons. This is a golf challenge where accuracy, not length, is paramount.  At the Port Royal Golf Club, you can choose your 18-hole pleasure: Barony, Planter's Row, and Robber's Row.

The Barony Course at Port Royal Golf Club constitutes 18 of this well-known island facility's 54 holes. The resort has recently been recognized as a "Silver Medal" Resort by Golf magazine.  Playing to just 6,038 yards from the regular tees, Barony is a very enjoyable course for all skill levels. The back nine in particular is a fine mix of long and short holes. Like its sister courses at Port Royal, Barony begins and ends at the club's beautiful Antebellum-style clubhouse.

From the tee, many of the holes on Barony appear to be relatively open. But as you approach the green the real challenge of the course becomes clear. The greens are small and protected by deep bunkers and Bermuda rough, demanding an excellent touch with the medium and short irons. This is a course where accuracy, not length is the key factor.
