Pinehurst No. 1 - No. 8

Pinehurst Resort, established in 1894, offers eight outstanding golf courses. Each feature defined cuts of rough along the tree-lined fairways, numerous sand bunkers, and mature trees coming into play on nearly every hole. With the opening of the Centennial Course in 1996, Pinehurst now has more holes than any other resort in the world.

This golf resort has witnessed countless extraordinary moments in golf history including Ben Hogan's first professional win, Jack Nicklaus and son both winning the Men's North and South Amateur, and Payne Stewart's dramatic 18th hole putt that led to victory in the 1999 U.S. Open. Bobby Jones so revered Pinehurst that he forever connected it to golf's homeland, dubbing it the "St. Andrews of United States Golf."

Pinehurst continually strives to create the most unique, exciting and challenging golf experience for those lucky enough to play there. And with eight world-class golf courses and Pinehurst's very own Golf Advantage School, this historic resort offers an unparalleled golf vacation experience.

The #1 Course is the most scenic and picturesque in design. The #2 Course was renovated during 1996. The #3 Course is a typical Donald Ross design, featuring dome-shaped greens.

When Rees Jones was walking through the woods in 1984 laying out the holes, he came across several ancient bunkers of a long-abandoned golf course. He ordered the bunkers restored, and today they sit on hole #4. Tom Fazio began a total reconstruction project in 1998.

The #5 Course is very tight and has numerous out-of-bounds stakes lining its fairways. The #6 Course is extremely long and has many elevated greens. The #7 Course is a modern design laid out on undulating terrain with a lot of natural vegetation coming into play, along with well-maintained greens.

The #8 Course, The Centennial Course, had its official opening in March, 1996. This is a traditional Fazio design. This course traverses 125 acres of wetlands and freshwater marshes. The greens have some of the characteristics of the greens on the #2 Course, but are larger.

If you are going to be staying at the resort, you may reserve your tee time, along with your room, up to sixty days in advance. All other public play is restricted to same day play with no advance reservations. Caddies are mandatory if you choose to walk any of these courses.
